Client: Samsung/Sydney Opera House
Agency: Imagination
Role: Creative direction, content creation
Year: 2015
To celebrate the partnership of Samsung and the Sydney Opera House, Imagination was tasked with creating the Welcome Wall, a twelve screen, thirteen thousand pixel across content piece that displayed the rich history, legacy and content of this iconic venue.
While the content itself was relatively straightforward, being a mix of pre-recorded video content and bespoke motion graphics, by far the biggest challenge was the format and execution. The aspect ratio and resolution of the final output meant video content could not be scaled up much at all, meaning creative solutions had to be found, and the main “hero moments” were created by converting still images into motion graphics pieces. The resolution demands also placed quite a bit of strain on render times on a tight schedule.
From a delivery perspective, the output was split into four pieces that were driven by two computers. There were significant challenges in keeping all of the outputs synced and playing properly, which we were able to successfully overcome and deliver a rich and historical piece of content.
