The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is a free exhibition that follows a chronological time line spanning from pre-war Australia to the present day. The exhibition focuses on telling the story of Australia’s involvement in the First World War, using a mix of arresting visuals, interactive technology, artefacts, audio and film to engage visitors.
This particular film depicts the dramatic Battle of Beersheba in Palestine, one of the last ever light brigade charges. Without the capability or budget to film actors in costume, it fell to using 3D animation to create a piece that was more evocative than is was accurate. It was decided to use stylisation, heavy silhouetting and frenetic camera work to place the audience in the heat of the battle.
